Once the apples are removed, there are only trace amounts of these beneficial compounds left in the water.”

    Fiber plays a crucial role here. Whole apples hold both soluble and insoluble fiber, which helps to form stool and nurtures beneficial gut bacteria. When boiling apples and discarding the fruit, most of that fiber remains behind.

    To be straightforward, “boiled apple water does not significantly contribute to the health of gut bacteria or alleviate constipation like whole apples or minimally processed apple products can,” remarks Hill.

    Why Warm Liquid May Help Move Things Along

    As explained by Kezia Joy, RDN, a medical advisor at Welzo, the temperature and hydration factors may be more important than the apples themselves.

    “Warm liquids stimulate gastrointestinal movement and facilitate hydration, both of which are essential for healthy bowel function,” she states.

    If you’re feeling a bit dehydrated, any warm beverage can assist in promoting digestion. This point highlights that the benefits are rooted more in fluid intake than in apples specifically.

    Other Benefits of Boiled Apple Water

    While boiled apple water may not be a digestive powerhouse, it still offers some advantages.

    For instance, it can be a healthier beverage choice. “Substituting drinks with added sugars for boiled apple water can decrease your daily added sugar intake,” Joy notes. “This small change can gradually contribute to better metabolic and cardiovascular health.”

    Moreover, apples are rich in antioxidants, including vitamin C and beneficial polyphenols, as stated by Joy. Even boiled apple water contains small amounts of these nutrients, which play a role in cellular protection.
